دشّن سالم الأحمدي، وكيل محافظ محافظة شبوة، بطولة النخبة الفردية للرجال للشطرنج التي ينظمها الاتحاد اليمني العام للشطرنج برعاية كريمة من معالي وزير الشباب والرياضة الأستاذ نايف البكري، ومحافظ محافظة شبوة الشيخ عوض بن مبارك العولقي وتستمر حتى 9 أغسطس.
وتأتي هذه البطولة سعياً من قيادة الاتحاد اليمني العام للشطرنج، ممثل بالدكتور صبري عبدالمولى، رئيس الاتحاد، لإقامة البرامج والأنشطة الشطرنجية على مستوى الجمهورية كاملة ويحرص الاتحاد العام للعبة إقامة انشطته ضمن خططه لهذا العام، وتشكيل منتخب وطني للمشاركة في أولمبياد المجر.
وشهد افتتاح البطولة مشاركة أكثر من ٦٠ لاعباً من جميع أنحاء الجمهورية، بينهم ٤٠ لاعباً مصنّفاً دوليا، حيث تُقام منافسات بطولة النخبة التصنيفية وفق قانون الاتحاد الدولي للشطرنج بالنظام السويسري للعب الكلاسيكي لتسع جولات، بزمن تفكير قدره ٩٠ دقيقة مع إضافة ٣٠ ثانية بعد كل نقلة.
حضر تدشين البطولة حسين الرفاعي، مدير عام مكتب الإعلام في محافظة شبوة، ومحمد عبدالله فريد، مدير عام الاستثمار، ومحسن سنان، مدير عام مكتب الشباب والرياضة، عبدالقادر باني رئيس فرع اتحاد الشطرنج بشبوة.

Salah Al-Ahmadi, Deputy Governor of Shabwa Governorate, inaugurated the Elite Individual Chess Championship for Men, organized by the Yemeni General Chess Federation under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Nayef Al-Bakri, and the Governor of Shabwa Governorate, Sheikh Awad bin Mubarak Al-Awlaqi. The championship continues until August 9.
This championship is part of the efforts of the Yemeni General Chess Federation, represented by Dr. Sabri Abdulmawla, the President of the Federation, to conduct chess programs and activities across the entire republic. The General Federation aims to implement its activities within this year’s plans and form a national team to participate in the Hungary Olympiad.
The championship opening witnessed the participation of more than 60 players from all over the republic, including 40 internationally rated players. The Elite Rating Championship competitions are held according to the classical system of the International Chess Federation, using the Swiss system for nine rounds, with a thinking time of 90 minutes and an additional 30 seconds after each move.
The championship inauguration was attended by Hussein Al-Rifai, General Director of the Information Office in Shabwa Governorate, Mohammed Abdullah Farid, General Director of Investment, and Mohsen Sanan, General Director of the Youth and Sports Office, Abdul Qader Bani, head of the Chess Federation branch in Shabwa.
